2009 Art Makes a Difference: The Seventh Annual MOMart Show May 1, 2, and 3 at Durham’s Golden Belt to benefit Genesis Home
Art Makes a Difference: The Seventh Annual MOMart Show, hosted by Just a Few Friends, a Durham, North Carolina, community nonprofit organization, will be held May 1, 2, and 3, 2009. Just a Few Friends exists to raise money for local charitable organizations through the support of local and regional artists.
This year’s chosen charity is Genesis Home. One hundred percent of the net proceeds will go to this organization.
The three-day event begins with a Friday evening preview party, 7 to 10 p.m. The cost is $25 at the door ($15 for students; 12 and under, free).
Saturday’s all-day open house runs from 9 am to 4 pm and features art and crafts such as container gardens, birdhouses, plants, and garden art in addition to jewelry, paintings, photography, sculpture, stained glass, textiles, and pottery.
We’ve added one more day to the event this year, so if you can’t make it Friday or Saturday, come on out on Sunday, from 12-4 pm and support this great cause and more than 100 local and regional artists! The sale will be held at Golden Belt (Building 2, Floor 3), a historic 155,000 square foot urban arts campus in the heart of downtown Durham, NC

This is my first, clumsy, little blog.
I hope you all enjoy the skymaids above. They are part of a series of five paintings that will ascend a stairwell in a beautiful home in Durham. The three figures are blowing good energy to the other floating, flying, twirling, trapeze and bike-riding figures to follow.
With fall and winter behind me, the other panels will come now. Perhaps I, like these paintings am feeling a rebirth these days. Peace is working its way back in and I’m beginning to embrace the impermanences in my world.
I’ll bring what I have finished to exhibit at the Durham Art Walk April 18 and 19, 2009. My location this spring is at Trinity Lofts which is conveniently the final shuttle stop on Foster Street. Perhaps like the Little Red Caboose I will be bringing up the rear or if you live in Old North Durham… then I could be your first stop.
